Healthy Smoothies!

Healthy smoothies can be a great addition to your healthy diet plan. When I say 'healthy diet plan', I'm not suggesting that you should be on a diet. More precisely, I mean your... 'healthy lifestyle eating/fueling your body plan'.

From the research and reading that I've done, I have adopted the plan of eating 5 small meals a day. My blood sugar stays more constant and I don't have the energy 'highs' and subsequent 'crashes' as I have noticed in the past when I eat less.

One of the ways that I maintain these 5 small meals a day is by adding in a healthy smoothie.

Smoothies are quick and easy to make, you can take them in the car or to the office with you AND they are very nutritious!

Breakfast smoothies are great for people who have a busy morning (who doesn't!) and need to fuel themselves for the day. Too often people skip breakfast because they don't have time . Healthy smoothies literally take less than 2 minutes to make!



Protein Please!

Most people I speak to regarding nutrition don't seem to eat enough protein. Protein is essential to building and repairing muscles and connective tissue. Protein also releases it's energy much slower than carbohydrates. This allows you to feel fuller longer and maintain a much more even level of energy.

Adding protein powder to your breakfast smoothies is a great way to increase your protein intake! And you will find that you won't be starving by lunch time!

One of my favorites is Nutriburn Vanilla Protein powder by Nature's Sunshine. 

2 scoops of whey protein powder give you about 25 grams of protein. This would be equivalent to the protein content of a chicken breast. Whatever product you choose, just be sure to read the label and make an informed decision.

Nature's Sunshine Products has come out with a vegetarian protein powder called Smartmeal which is made with pea protein and non-GMO soy.  I love the taste of it!  It's available in vanilla flavour which makes it super versatile!

And my new favorite is Nature's Harvest which is a green, whole-food, super food beverage mix!!  It's vegan, dairy free, lactose free and contains whole foods, green foods, vegetable protein, antioxidant blend, essential fatty acids, herbs, enzymes & fibre!

Many protein powders on the market contain a lot of sugar too. Sugar is something that you want to avoid!

Blueberry Bliss smoothie

Healthy Ice Capp!

  • 1 1/4 cups of unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tsp of Hazelnut Instant Coffee ( I use Nescafe)
  • 2 scoops of vanilla protein powder ( I use Smartmeal or Nutriburn)
  • crushed ice

Mix it all up in the blender and enjoy!


Peach Power!

Put everything in the blender and mix!

My Personal Breakfast Favorite! 

Green Dream!

  • Crushed ice
  • 1 1/2 almond milk (unsweetened)
  • 2 scoops of Nature's Harvest protein powder

Mix it all up in the blender and enjoy!


Tropical Supreme

Mix all ingredients in a blender.



Chocolate Almond Decadence

Mix all ingredients in a blender.

Tastes like a chocolate milkshake!


Raspberry Protein Delight

  • 1/2 cup plain or flavoured yogurt
  • 1 cup of milk or soy milk
  • 1 cup of fresh or frozen raspberries (or any berry)
  • 1 tsp of honey to sweeten
  • 1-2 scoops of Nutriburn Protein Powder

Mix all ingredients in a blender.
