Do you need to do a candida cleanse?
Candida micro-organisms, better known as ' yeast ' are a group of fungi that grows in the bowel/intestinal tract. These fungi are included in the blend of microbes that make up our ' intestinal microflora, which is the balance of ' good bacteria ' and ' bad bacteria ' that is necessary for good health.
If this critical balance is disrupted, various health problems can develop over time. One particular species of yeast known as Candida Albicans has been proven to be at the root of many chronic and common health issues for people in our Western Society.
If the balance of gut microflora is disrupted, one or more species of yeast can quickly overgrow and cause numerous symptoms which often seem bizarre and unrelated.
So,let's be clear. Candida is not a disease, but rather it is a condition of internal imbalance, that can be corrected. Candida Albicans has often been connected to diseases such as MS, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's disease, leaky gut syndrome, brain fog, frequent colds and flu, earaches, sinus problems, vaginal yeast infections, athlete's foot, toenail and fingernail fungus, swollen lymph nodes, reduced immunity and more...
Now that we have a basic understanding of what Candida is, let's see what symptoms it can cause.
If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, you may have a candida (yeast) overgrowth. Symptoms can vary widely and can be found throughout the entire body.
Symptoms often seem to be worse on damp, rainy days.
So how does this fungus overgrow and get out of control in the first place? Usually with anti-biotic use which kills up to 95% of all bacteria, even the good bacteria in the gut. Be aware that almost all chicken, 70% of cattle and 90% of pigs are raised on feed with antibiotics, so we are ' unknowingly ' getting antibiotics in our food as well.
Other drugs that can disrupt balance and cause an overgrowth include: birth control pills, corticosteroids and immunosuppressants.
Other more common causes are: stress, caffeine from coffee and tea, chocolate and soft drinks. A high sugar diet can reduce immunity which can also contribute to candida overgrowth.
So if you've read this far and you've ticked off a few of the symptoms listed above ( or maybe many ), you might like to learn that there is something you can do about this problem to correct it and restore proper balance to help you feel better.
