Welcome to the seventh issue of Kathy's Korner!

I'm excited that you have chosen to follow my newsletter. You can expect to find fun, interesting information here that will hopefully help you on your journey to a healthier life!

I'm Kathy McAlpine Terpstra and I own a private wellness studio in beautiful Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada.

Today we're going to focus on why I became an InForm nutritional coach with Nature's Sunshine.

I have been in the health and fitness industry for 20 years. And I have seen many people come and go trying to feel better in their body. That may mean exercising or trying to lose weight or improve their self esteem - it's all related!

You know what else is related? How our body looks, feels and regenerates AND what we put in our mouth!

Why In.Form?

In.Form is a 13-week program that was put together by Nature's Sunshine Products and it incorporates the latest research into nutrition, health, natural supplements and lifestyle change.

I have to say that I resisted getting my certification as an In.Form coach for about a year and a half. Why? Because I had been teaching nutrition and exercise for almost 20 years! Why did I need another tool? Silly right?

You bet! Once I decided to "just do it", things have changed for me in so many ways!

I've started two In.Form groups and the information is changing people's lives! It's so exciting to see their progress!

"I am participating in the InForm program with Kathy Terpstra and am delighted with the results I’m seeing. The weekly meetings are educational, encouraging and fun. Each week we sample a new, healthy smoothie or treat – and leave with the recipe. I’m learning some very basic food facts and techniques for healthier eating. I have never felt like eating anything first thing in the morning, but now I religiously have a protein smoothie – which I enjoy, and it gets my day off to a good start. At Kathy’s suggestion, I have been tracking my protein and fibre intake, and choosing foods to fill in any shortfalls I can see as the day progresses. I have also become almost fanatical about reading labels (a real eye-opener), which enables me to avoid the sugars that seem to be ever-present in grocery store foods. With attention to what I am eating, and the weekly exercise challenge, the weekly progress log shows how I am steadily improving. So What Can I Expect?

You can expect a lot! Each week we meet and everyone gets on the Biotracker. What's that? It's a specialized scale that reads your: weight, body fat %, body water %, muscle weight, bone mass, metabolic age and visceral fat.

It's really kinda cool!

I don't like to focus on the weight though. I feel that the three most important numbers are: visceral fat (that's the bad fat in and around your organs), body water % (because nothing works well if you're dehydrated) and your metabolic age (how old your body REALLY is - and you hopefully want that number to be lower than your actual age!)

After everyone has their numbers, we usually have a tasting of some sort. It might be healthy smoothie recipe that I've made for my class or another recipe that helps them to experience something new.

Once we've tasted something really good, we head in to listen to the weekly lesson. It's lots of discussion, lots of fun!

The entire meeting lasts about 75 minutes and once the group has formed, it's really awesome to hear people sharing their experiences, their wins and their challenges.

As I mention in the course, it's a lifestyle class with weight loss as a side effect!
